Bench Chart

Hey, I was looking for a bench chart and then found this chart, showing you what your max bench is. Very easy to understand and useful as I think the bench is one of the best exercises you can do.

The bench max chart is very useful indeed. Thanks for sharing, maxing benchpress at 100 lbs right now.

It is the same. I think this predicts kind of high though, I've used multiple ONE REP MAX calculators and they all give numbers lower than this.

maxing out is a waste of time and energy. i can already bench my "max" from the chart already 12 times.

if you want to build muscle and size, have the proper form and make sure you do every rep slow and steady. Negative is just as impotant as positive, so make sure you do them equally.

I could do 440lbs for 12 reps easy for the legs which means i get 578lbs+ on that chart.

I remember one time we went over to annother machine, and my friends just kept throwing weights on the legpress, came out to be like 730lbs or so. so according to that chart i can do 761-794lbs or so.

I wonder if i can still do that. This was like 3-4yrs ago in high school. Im off the chart for my upper body cuz im so weak i dont even make it on the chart i think, lol. Damn disproportioned body i have.

One thing you should know, leg press doesn't mean shit. The inefficiency of the machines is so unbelievable that if you want to build muscle, free weights is the only way to go. My one rep max for bench press is 270 and then I tried one of those machine 'bench presses' and ended up doing like 300 seven times.

If you read the chart, it's not YOUR weight on the left, it's the weight of the set you're doing. That chart only predicts your ONE REP max based on your TEN REP set weights.

Pretty accurate chart for me.. I do 225 ten times, and it says I should max out a 293lbs. I just maxed out the other day at 305.. pretty close!

Decline's a different story.. freaky super tri's.. I can do 335-350 on decline and can only do 225 on incline... messed up...

the highschool me could outlift my ass right now lol, thats why i'm going back to lifting everyday i maxed just over 500lbs on the horizontal leg press, in highschool I was doing waaaaay more then that

To what that guy said about slow and easy.....slow and easy for muscle and size, well muscle(toned) and size are totally different. for size and strength/power less reps with heavier weight is better. For muscle defenition and an all around more toned body numerous reps are better with a lighter weight that you can do more sets of.

ex: Benching should always be done more for power and strength than tone for the chest muscle is a big bulky muscle and cannot really tone like other muscles.

Tricepts are a toning muscle which more reps would be used to train.

I agree with cyanide to a degree. Machines in general are totally UNefficient. BUT they are good for some excersizes and do work some muscles that free weights just cant and give some power for certain purposes.

As far as your benching story this is true. On average i add about 50-75 lbs on a machine doing a bench press excersize. With all machines you will be able to add more weight. On the leg press i can press over 900lbs.....now thats just insane if you consider my size 5'10 178. Also considering i only leg press whenever im bored and have nothing better to do, I do not workout my legs at all.

that chart is just to compare. i max out at 375, or used to. at my best i was able to put up 125's once and then a little. for all of the people out there that say they put up a six stack or so on the leg press is probably not doing it right. try doing it my way and then lets see what you do. i bet you couldn't do at least half of that.

one thing you gotta realise ppl....machines are for pussies and strictly growth and tone.......doesnt really make you stronger. yes if you have a steady workout your going to get stronger but not like with free weights. theres always idiots that say i can bench 300 or leg press 800....and yes on machines they can....bring them to free weights and they wont get anywhere close to that. i hada guy tell me he could press 1200 with his legs and i said (yea me to) he brought me to some machine i said nonono over there. we go to the real leg press and the ass couldnt even press one full time.
