This is a discussion on I think I'm about to get scammed... within the The Lounge forum part of the General category; So I sold my friend's Ipod video on ebay, and I get this email from "service@paypal.com". So I don't open ...

| I think I'm about to get scammed... So I sold my friend's Ipod video on ebay, and I get this email from "service@paypal.com". So I don't open it yet, but I go to my account and my balance is zero. Wtf? So I open the email, no blue paypal logo, it's all TEXT. Looks like this... Dear Kris Baloy, James Jefferson just sent you money with PayPal. James Jefferson is a Verified buyer. Payment Details Amount: $325.00 USD Transaction ID: 8V3718L1N2926172C Subject: money for ipod Please note PayPal has placed a temporary freeze on the funds sent from James Jefferson upon his request. PayPal has reviewed James Jeffersons request and granted it. Once James Jefferson receives the item he has purchased from you, he will notify us and the money he sent to you will be released. James Jefferson has received an email instructing him to call PayPal by phone or to send an email to notify us if he has received your item. Please understand this procedure is implemented for the safety and integrity of the eBay community. We will also be contacting your third party shipping company (USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL) and will be tracking this item.   | never ship until you can verify the $$$ is in your own account. for now, send the e-mail to paypal's scam dept.

| i have gotten a few of those myself and only after VERIFIED responses from the anti-phishing dept did i continue with the transaction.

| if you haven't shipped it. don't ship it. request a final value fee credit 7 days after the auction ended and say the buyer never sent payment. once they respond- you can click that you don't want to deal with the buyer and you'll immediately get the credit. then relist the bitch. and send me your paypal userID and password- I'll investigate it further  |

| I would have shipped that the minute I seen it.  but seriously. If you recieve anything like that at all, verify with Paypal first. Call them up, forward that email to them, ect. |
