| $40 for this event??? I went to the SRT performance event up at Arlington Park back in April. It cost $20 to drive the Magnum SRT and Viper SRT. It wasn't bad, wish I could push the viper harder. I'll pass on this Mazda event, I got to drive the MX5 last year at Zoom Zoom live.
I guess now these events aren't free anymore.
Anymore more coming up soon? I know of Scion and Lexus events, but those are in the Fall. |

| viper sounds fun - if they let you open it up. magnum is way too fat for me. how did i miss that event? hmm.
it costs a lot more for them for insurance and rental if they are actually doing fast events. IMO mazda is doing some of if not the best job at it. i've always heard bmw's is very good, but never been able to get in myself. mazda doesn't close registration though. and theirs are great albeit a bit crowded.
anyway this is well worth the $40 IMO as well. they will teach you things if you don't know them, they provide the car for you to beat on that you may f up, and the event is actually at a REAL race track this time. i'm not sure how hard they will be on it, ie. maybe it does have cones to control speed - i only guess that because the 'bring your own' doesn't sound like it's requiring a roll bar. you're never going to get on a track anywhere else for only $40 that is for sure. |

| if this actually run by Mazda? cuz i really can't tell from the site. it's a $40 lottery ticket to win a miata lease for 2 years... i think the chance of winning is actually pretty damned good (assuming 200 people show up for the event) |

| yes, i believe it's the newest iteration of the revitup events they did in the past. which apparently was a leased name to them - this year revitup is the name of the cobalt ss school that is going on. which i'm also signed up for, but not really expecting that much out of that. have driven that car twice and never felt comfortable in it. |

| so yeah - this thing was totally awesome. if the autocross going on tomorrow wasn't 45 seconds from my house, i'd be going down to joliet. ABSOLUTELY worth the drive and the $40. got a good good lunch, and got to drive on a 2.1 mile race track - you drive your own mazda or you can drive a provided mx-5, mazdaspeed mx-5, or mazdaspeed 6. if you drive one of their cars, an instructor drives with you. 4 20 minute track sessions of you driving, groups from experienced to mommy.
i have never seen a track day that provides instructors and cars for less than $1000. so HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - if you have the time tomorrow then you should be doing this!!! |

| ^ awww I missed it!
What did they give you after you filled out the survey?
Is that Cobalt SS school event free? Link?
Also any more events planned during the summer? I heard BMW starting in mid-July will have that Susan G Komen drive at BMW dealers, I may just goto that and have some fun and raise money at the same time. |

| i got a shirt, i don't remember filling out a survey. i have heard other people that go to these things often say that bmw had set the bar previously but this was the best vendor event. it was totally awesome and i really hope they do it again next year.
chevy one i think will be more autocross oriented - i think it was $40 too? i forgot. http://www.revitupracing.com/ check it out. i'm signed up for 2 on a saturday or something, i don't know how good it will really be i've driven a cobalt twice and both times i was pretty uncomfortable, not good if you are trying to drive fasties.
bmw driving events are tough to get in, i haven't been in one yet even. the susan g komen drive is a charity thing, for each mile on the cars bmw will donate a $1. they have most of the product lineup, you get to sign some cars, and they have signs up for a route that you are supposed to follow. it's just a little test drive thing though, not a performance event. |
