I want to torch those machines, especially the ones at Jewel-Osco on Rte. 53. Those are the worst.

I don't like using that. It's taking some poor old woman's job away from her.

Just remember, it's all weight based. The scale talks to the computer and the serial process has to flow according to the rigid reality of the outsourced programmers who wrote the software.
i havent had to many problems with them, its better than waiting in line for 15 minutes when you only have one or two freaking item(s).
I rarely have problems and love the sense of satisfaction as people give me dirty looks when I don't have to wait in line.
i don't mind waiting in line....as long as there's a good lookin girl workin the register.![]()
I like em, gets me in and out. I tend to be impatient when I'm in Jewel.

I've never had a problem and if I do there is usually some worker right there to help me out.

I love that auto check out, but I sometimes do get annoyed with those messages too, along with the machines being really loud as if i'm deaf.
Indeed. So what should be done about that? The US should help those not so "efficient" people to become more specialized, train them to be better at something else that the US isn't or needs attention, which could generate to a higher income. That's just an ecomist point of view.Originally Posted by ry@n

i've never really had problems with these things, but then again I prefer to wait in line to check out.
i've had no problems with them. my shit doesnt get smashed becuase they only pay their baggers $3.75/hr
having a G/F that has worked with them 24/7 for a while, you'll learn all the tricks to use them.

If the store has it, I almost always go to automatic check out. No long lines, no stupid register jockey, way more convenient.
It's really not that difficult.

i don't have a problem with them...i have a problem with the people in front of me that don't know how to use them and take forever.
