The comcast one is VOIP isn't it? The only use for the landline would be for long distance since all the numbers i would be calling is in Chicago. I was thinking comcast also, but didn't want that to be tied with my bandwidth.

That I don't know but I'm sure someone on here will. Another option is also those internet phone companies like Vonage or whatever where you make your calls through the computer.

I dunno how good they are, just throwin ideas out.

Ditch the landline and just use your cell phone. That way, you'll eliminate one bill, and all you have to do is just pay a little extra for a better plan that fulfills all of your needs.

Comcast offers landline service. We have it at our house.

I've had Vonage for over 2 years now and i love it. Great price, always quality (cant tell a difference from a land line) and since my internet rarely ever goes down it's been great.

Just remember with VOIP there are lots of issues getting Fax machines to work, Tivo receivers cannot call out on it, and home security systems cannot call out on it either.

That's the main reason I didn't want to go VOIP.

Since i have VOIP i also got a BASIC land line from SBC with NO options at all, no call pack, nothing at all. I pay per call with it and its used for security and my Tivo. My bill is $15.00-16.00 per month. That plus the $25.00 for VOIP its still cheaper than my old phone bills with SBC (usually was between $50-$65). I could technically go with the 14.99 plan with vonage cause i dont use the phone that much but oh well.
