where do you bike? any trails around here, paths, etc.
I like to do the fox river trail from Dundee to Geneva and then over to West Chicago via the Geneva Spur(?) and back up the Illinois prairie path to Elgin and back to Dundee. Anyone have any trails they like to take?
whatchoo do? |

| I dO mountain and road biking. The trails around des plaines are very nice. There are the nice smooth scenic trails and trails with obstacles, jumps etc... Palos Hills is very nice but a bit of a drive. I do that a couple times a year.
Road biking I ride all over the city. I ride to work sometimes, Park Ridge to the City. |

| I've got a schwinn mtb with cross tires on it. I usually just hit up the fox river trail or the prairie path, but it's been a while since I've done it. Hopefully I'll get some time to go riding this summer. |

| you know i dont even roll with the roadie community. they never smile... they look so serious on their bikes all the time, i try to like give a nod or a smile when i pass bikers and they just give me a look, i ride to enjoy myself and get a little exercise in... they seem to have attitude. |

| Roadies have been that way for what seems like forever. Alot of them are very stuck up, and very serious about what they're doing. Most of them don't even like each other. When I was working at the bike shop, we used to dread roadies comin in, cause they were assholes 99% of the time. |

| thats exactly who I am avoiding becoming. I love biking but I hate the bikers. Sometimes at performance bike shop, in Lincoln Park, the employees are such assholes, so are the other customers. Ive had the occasional nice person help me out though. Im sure there are a group of friendly bikers, just have to find the less serious bikers who arent competitive. |

| Yeah, I know what you mean. The guys at the bike rack in st charles are pretty decent most of the time, and same with the village pedaler in south elgin. |

| Mountain/road. . I use mountain bikes for the road, though. The one on the left has a seperate set of rims sitting in the basement waiting to be mated up to some nice road tires i will order come april or so
but..
I've got a 2004 Mongoose Rockadile AL
Shimano Deore LX and XT components, Hayes HFX-1 Mechanical Disc brakes front and rear, Geax crosstread All terrains, trek seat since it was comfortable and i had access to one for relatively cheap $2.. eaton bars, rhyno lite dual wall rims, d/t spokes on half of each wheel from snappin em doing stupid shit in the dirt and landing a little to hard on the wheels (340 don't like to hit easy) and a few touches here and there.
1994 Trek 830 single track
Found it in the trash. I got the mongoose for my birthday, and so I swapped all those parts out, and had them sitting in my garage going unused.. riding down the street before i got my liscense, I come across a rusty bike.. says trek on it. As most know, they are expensive, so i put it on my shoulder and rhode home carrying a bike.. Me and my stepdad stripped the paint, sanded it, primed it with four layers, and sprayed 3 layers of krylon yellow paint on it followed by black on the front end of the main frame.
all parts on that bike came standard on the mongoose, i put all new parts from that mongoose on that trek, excluding tires.. went to walmart, got some nice V-treds, and it rides DAMN nice. kinda ridgid but whatever
There's the north shore trail out in Lake Forest, goes from up by kenosha all the way down to Chi-town |

| I used to do it in HS, before i got a drivers license and a car. After that I became lazy.
I used to bike on part of the paire path i think. And during the summer i biked from about 10am-7pm just wandering around everyday, cuz i had to avoid being home. |

| Sure, I stopped for a while then started to bike again, and the chain on my old bike snapped because I wiped out and bent my crank... Go big or go home....
Well then I got this one, rode it for about 1 month, crashed one time jumping a box, nothing big.
