Angry Tranny Prob...

Okay, does anyone know someone who has worked on tranny's or clutches before? Or have the tools to do so? I think there is something loose in side my tranny. I think its the clutch. There was a Centerforce installed the same time as the flywheel was like 10k ago. The clutch doesnt slip or anything like that, but when it is engaged (let out) theres is a rattling sound like something inside is loose. It has been there for a while, but more recently goten louder. The tranny is working okay, just the sound i am worried about. Any suggestions?

Sounds like a throw-out bearing problem.

The focus does have a problem with their traany's making a little noise. But this is definetly getting worse. Its wierd though clutch doesnt slip at all. Just sound bad! Thow-out bearing?

on the manual transmission, a fork is used to apply pressure to the pressure plate and allows the clutch to seperate from the flywheel. this fork needs to come into direct contact to do so. the only problem there is: the damn thing is spinning anywhere from 800-8000rpm. to solve this, a thrwo-out bearing is used. basically, the bearing (just like any other) allows one side to contact the presure plate and allows the other side to apply pressure against the entire bearing, pushing it forward against the springs inside the pressure plate and allowing the clutch to disengage. this is when you down-shift into second for that hole-shot.

It could be those shitty weights that supposedly make the Centerforce clutch clamp harder. I had two centerforce clutches in my Viper and they broke almost immediately. Get anything else than a centerforce for the next one.

btw i saw you cruising through harris bank parking lot the other day i was in the acura lot in a customer car . that car still looks smooth man .
