| So if I were to take a picture of a tick, I'd push the macro button and snap away? |

| It changes the focus to take a MUCH more detailed picture of anything (for example) under 3 feet to point blank.
Better to shoot under good light and turn the flash off, hold the camera VERY steady, and hold down the Take Picture button halfway- let the camera focus- then depress the button all the way when the picture is clear.
I always use macro mode to shoot anything small and it takes better pictures of text on a sheet of paper <- practice your technique doing that as it will force you not to use the flash and you can test how detailed of a pic you can really get. Take pictures of paragraphs and words. You can then transfer that technique to anything.

| another form of macro photography is taking a close-up shot of only part of a subject.
Example - can you guess what this is? |

| in photoshop...
use the marquee tool to surround the image... you'll need a pretty decent sized square.
feather edges like 65 so you'll get nice curves on the corners.
hit CTRL + I to inverse selection
then Filter -> Distort -> Lens Correction and adjust the vignetting to your liking...
but there are also other things involved to make the rest of it...
cheers. |
