My advice: Delete the Suggestions and Comments.

Tell people to Like it or leave it.

And tell them to go out and promote this site because more members = more clicks = more$$$$$$$$

I haven't noticed Adsense ads, nor any other $-making script, anywhere on this site yet. So where would those supposed $$$$$ come from?

Well why not add adsense ads? Honestly, adsense makes site owners money, sites without ads do not. AS regular members we will know how to ignore them, but the occasional lurker will just click away. If Joey is running this site, why not make money off it. Plus he paid for vBulletin which a life license is like almost 200$.

It's $160 I have a few of them myself.
I don't use adsense on my sites, and do just fine profit-wise. Adsense isn't the only way to make $ from a website.

I'm sure that if Joey wants to make money off of this site, he'll use his adsense and whatever other means he uses to profit from his sites. However, I don't believe that is a priority with this site for him, atm.

In your opinion. Fact is, you really don't know at all.

In part, your right James. In time I do hope to profit. I didnt buy the site just to hang out with you.

But at the moment, I have other priorities. Monetizing the site isnt one of them right now. But yes, at some point, I will sell advertising on the site. Thats a given. Let me ask you this.... So what?

I also bought the site because its a Chicago based site, is active and has good members. I wanted a Chicago based site specifically, because im here, and because of some of the things I can do with a local site that is much harder with a national site.

But If adsense ads bother you so much james, im sure you could go over to another site somewhere that has no ads.

Ive learned one thing over time, I am never going to make everyone happy, and unfortunately you seem to be one of those people that I will not be able to make happy.

Unfortunately, I'm riding along with James on this one and have a bit of a feeling that most of your core members won't be sticking around for very long. As I've said before, in just this short period of time the site is nothing like what I used to come here for. It used to be more of a personal venue, and now is becoming no different than any other site out there.

I was the first one to realize and speak up about the fact that this site will eventually look like all your other sites.

This is the first time you haven't ignored or danced around the issue. Thanks.

There's your FACT Peggy. Lol.

Isnt the lounge still the most popular spot on here?

I find it MUCH easier to navigate this site now then before.

Well, that is a shame, but it is a reality im afraid. As I said, I cant make everyone happy. But the number of PMs I get telling me how great the site is becoming tells me that your opinion isnt the only one.

Im confident that Chicago Velocity will grow and be a premium chicago site.

We may lose a few members along the way, which is unfortunate, but reality. Im confident we will gain many more new members then we lose.

That's usually the case when you make your own decisions with money as your motivation rather than taking the affected peoples' opinions into account.
Really, what do you expect.

well, to me it looks like joey has a real interest in the site and is not looking for a cash cow...not all sites produce $...

the best part of this site is like only the few others out there...we can talk about any types of cars, motorcycles, bikes, skateboards and whatever...too many sites out there like to specialize in everything, where here the site specializes in US, the users...so what if joey MAY or MAY NOT bring some paying ads onto the site...if it might even help out some members of the board, then it benifits all of us...

i have given info out on peoples shops on here for free...and im sure others have also done it also on recomendations...some people are rushing to judgement...others have not...i see this as a good change...

I sadly have to agree with James on most of this stuff (I don't usually like agreeing with James...)

I like the new lay out, it's pretty. All I wanted to do was say it's cluttered... which it is.

That said... who the hell are you people? Peggy? Joeychgo? I know I don't post here that much, but damn I must have missed a lot...

ps,

Not that I want to start a flame war, or any sort of commotion, but Joeychgo was explaining his reasoning fine, Peggy. You really didn't need to jump up and pet his ego...

Well, your comment that she didnt need to "pet my ego" indicates that you believe she is being disingenuine. Not really an nice thing to imply of someone that you dont know.

Who the hell am I? Might want to read Important News about CV

Peggy is someone that helps me on my sites and is a pretty good graphics person. That said...

I appreciate your opinions. Ultimately I am going to do what I think is best. Ive tried to explain my reasoning, and cant do much else. Dont worry about my ego. It doesnt need petting.
