This clown's accusations that I'm contradicting myself are completely ridiculous. For someone who claims to know so much about the business of photography, he should understand that there is a distinction between advertising (aka "commercial") and editorial photography.
Photography used on a magazine or book cover, inside of an article, or for other illustrative purposes is editorial photography. It is not meant to sell a product, which is why it is not called advertising photography.
If he's going to go to such great lengths to use his extensive photographic knowledge to prove how someone he's never met is a liar, a scammer, and a thief, he should at least apply said presumed knowledge and understand what I meant when I said that my photos are not intended to be sold as advertising. That's something that a layman might misunderstand, but the Expert Photographer and Champion and Defender of the Chicago Velocity Board should get it right.
Perhaps, Mr Hot Under the Collar, rather than continuing your tirade you should take a deep breath and step away. I have been perfectly upfront here. I have not misrepresented my intentions. The only valid criticism you have is that you seem not to like my work. That's fine. It's no reason to accuse me of trying to rip people off -- if people like what I sell, they pay for it. If they don't, they don't. Every other volley you have lobbed at me ranges from misinformed to offbase to completely preposterous.
Given that a board admin and several moderators have expressed an interest in the offer I have made, I would presume that they find your arguments invalid, and do not think I am trying to scam anyone. Unless you mean to state that those responsible here would allow a lying, cheating scam artist to continue to post, and would contact him to work with him?
You don't like my work. Fine. I don't like yours. You don't like my attitude. Fine. I don't like yours. But don't come pissing in a thread you've nothing to do with and levelling the kind of accusations you're levelling without a leg to stand on.
Unless you actually have something meaningful to say, you're in my mental killfile from here on out.
For those who've contacted me already, thanks. If I haven't responded to you yet, I will shortly. I apologize for letting this get derailed by one persistant troll, but I refuse to stand idly by and let my character get slandered by an internet loudmouth.
Nevertheless, I've said my piece. I'm done. If you want to continue to champion this guy as your hero I feel almost as bad for you as I don't for him.
That being said, I'd gladly put my work up against anyones if it came to a poll. Win or lose, I have confidence in what I do. That's about the only dispute I'm interested in continuing to maintain here.

However, the second one looks remarkably similar to this one to me:
I just pulled this one from my slush pile, so it's not been cropped or post-processed at all. Were I to work on it a bit, I could probably make it look even more similar.
(I'd also be curious to know if that image was taken at a public event under existing-light conditions. Somehow, I doubt it.) |

| both pics were taken at the Auto Show at about 2pm last thursday
only after effects were level adjustment and a light (+2 or +3) contrast adjustment
they were only cropped to fit my 1440x900 desktops

If anyone's going to convince me to go back to my days as a happy amateur, it's folks like you, not those who accuse me of trying to scam a board full of people. |

| I never said the word scam. If you are going to market yourself for sale, you had better have a product (or service in this case) that is far above par what others currently offer. I'm not saying that someone should not contact you for your services. All I bring forth is that, from samples indicated within your personal portfolio, the desire is not there. If you have better work, then by all means, that is what should be in your portfolio.

However, the first respondent in this thread has flat-out accused me of trying to scam the entire board. I said I was trying to improve my stock library. That, alone, implies that I'm not an expert in the field. I never did claim to be. I showed people what I could do, and told them I'd share some photos with them if they let me shoot their cars. I see no high treason in that.
From there on out, it somehow degraded into whether or not I am the world's best, or worst, or most medicore, or most overpriced, or funniest dressed photographer.
Regardless, I've spent enough time defending myself and my abilities here. Mr "look out, he's trying to rip you off" and his friends win. I'll go away, since that's so clearly what most of the posters here want, and I've got better investments for my time than getting involved in this silly argument.
To those with whom I've already discussed taking some photos: I'm sorry. You can thank your companions here for messing it up.
According to them, though, you're not missing much anyway.

| amazingly enough - that was not taken with a flash. My dad and I stayed at the LF-A for at least 15 minutes because angles like this presented themselves. The paint and the lights surrounding it made shots like this come up. I adjusted the levels a bit to exaggerate the highlights, but they were there to begin with - another reason why this is my current wallpaper.
by the way - thanks

| Joe, you should've "stopped down" the one with the red car with the yellow one in the back. more depth would've made that one look alot better.
I really like the first one. It "pops!" |
