| Good Local Auto Paint Shops/Prices Who have you had a good deal and a good experience w/ painting your ride?
I had a bunch of parts painted by M&B(awesome guys, awesome work) when I had my Galant, but not the whole car. Once the Quest is out of the garage I'll drive it over and have them give me an estimate, but I'd like a couple more options just to know. I don't need the door jambs or anything like that, just need to make the car all one color(keeling her red :P) I'd like something decent and durrable, but don't want to have to black market an organ to get it done.
Thanks for any info!

| M and B is good, but if you check there website it mentions no more customs. I think he is focusing more on collision work. You could try BC autobody in Wheaton. I have heard they do good work.

| honestly...and i really hate to say it...but MAACO...eason why is for 2 fold...
prices CANT be beat
and if you prep it yourself, it will save you some serious $ also...
is the paint just not as shiney anymore?...have you claybared it or buffed it out lately?
i can show you how to prep the car by yourself and save you serious $ so all they have to do is paint the car if the body is rust free and just needs a new coat...also, when looking for paint, you want the 2 step process cause the 1 step is only paint with no clear coat...2 step adds the clearcoat onto the car...and it looks like your in bartlett...as so am i...so let me know and i can talk shop with you about it...
but if you want a shop locally, i have a buddy that owns a shop right in schaumburg called "petersens autobody"

| Hey I'm all for it.
Reason for the repaint is it's already been maaco'd once, other panels have faded over the years, and the edges of the front fenders are worn(NEVER use the fender protectors when working on an engine, just don't wear anything w/ rivets or zippers :P)
Too bad about M&B.
But I was pretty much just going to sand off all the crap, doing some fiberglass repair to the airdam, and installing a CTS LED 3rd brake light so I've got some glassing and filling to do there also.
I was going to do the rustoleum/mineral spirits roll-on deal, but decided against it... cause my girlfriend said she'd throw for some of it because she'd "rather see it done right than done cheap."
No confidence sometimes :P |

Unfortunately they stopped doing custom work (for now), but their work is awesome! I've seen quite of few of the cars that were done there end up in magazines. good people and they stand by their work |

| So, I've been calling around town to find somebody that could paint my 79 La France Fire Truck. We can mask it and sand it ourselves, but we have a pretty limited budget (~2k). Can anybody recommend a place that 1) had a big enough roll door (the truck is 8'6", 26' long), and 2) would do a flame job on something that big, for that price, if we let them go hog wild with it?
Restoring is less important to me than making it as flashy as possible. |
