Spring Tune Up - Kawasaki Vulcan 750

SO what should I do with my Vulcan before I ride it in the spring?

Its my first spring with the bike. I had a carb rebuild done last summer - New pipes as well.

Your Owners Manual will list EVERYTHING you need to know before riding.
If you don't have it- order it right away.

Check out CustomDynamics.com- I would highly suggest ordering their 1.85" LED Signal Clusters for at the very least your brake light.
It will make your brake light light up FAST and is ALOT brighter than conventional bulbs.

Other than that- buy some MAAZ metal polish from Home Depot and Plexus plastic cleaner/protectant/polish and a bunch of towels to keep your bike clean, and never use any kind of tire shine product on your tires.

Yeah, once it starts to warm up I plan to shine it up - and ive bene looking at those clusters as well.

But what about mechanicals? I didnt do any winterizing -- so what should I be thinking about when it finally is snow free?

Your owners manual is the best resource, do you have it?
Any advice given here would be missing important information.

Nope - I bought the bike used. I didnt ride for almost 20 years and decided to pick it back up last year.

I had to order the manual for my Kawasaki cruiser last winter also- here's the link I used to find/buy it. I was glad I did- it's more like a book than a manual. Best $16 on your bike you'll ever spend.

ok...what did you do before the cold weather hit?...was the tank full of fuel?
if so, did you put stable into it?

did you disconnect the battery? if not, and you have not started it for several months..expect that battery to be DEAD...do not, and i can not say this loud enough, DO NOT try to jump the bike battery with your car battery...
    just buy a new battery...

get an oil filter and oil for the bike...once a bike has been sitting during winter, its just best to put new oil into it to prevent any crap from getting all in the motor...

im assuming its chain driven, so get chain lub, but dont go crazy with it..use it on spots that look dry...
You dont like me....i dont give a fuck...cause i'll still put ya in the hospital...me tollerating you is all that matters...

I recieved a PM from someone out of the blue about the above subject so here is my response again just in case.

    Sure thing XXXXX,
    follow this link:
    http://www.customdynamics.com/motorcycle_led_bulbs.htm

    go down to:
    1.85" Diameter Replacement Cluster
48 LEDS--comes in Amber or Red.
    Price: $24.99 ea
Put in how many you need- (depending on how many brake light bulbs you have).
And add it to your shopping cart.
Once in the shopping cart you will click a small drop down menu by the item title and clarify that you want the RED PIGTAIL 1157 Base 3205-18.

That's it. I happily have been paying $45 or more for these LED clusters but this winter they decided to drop the price significantly. There is no way to describe how red/bright these brake lights are- you almost have to look away they are so bright.

There isn't a need to go with yellow ones for your turn signals, it's preference, (I purchased the 1.25" smaller clusters to fit the turn signal housing) they aren't as bright and they make your signals flash faster which I didn't desire.

    ride safe,
    James

if you have a battery charger, you can use that.......

I had ot hook mine up so I could crank the bike alot to get her started......I like to run some fuel system cleaner through the first tank in the spring.....

if you have cable brake or clutch lines, lube them, you can get the cable lube thingy for really cheap, and get some silicone grease or specificaly named cable lube at any bike place.

other than that......everyoen seems to have it covered
