New Feature

Ok - I put together a new feature --

News and Weather on one page:

Chicago Velocity News

You can access this section via the Quick Links Dropdown Menu.

I started with just a few feeds. If you want to suggest more, please let me know. If I can get an rss feed and it makes sense, im happy to add whatever news you like.

Hope you like this one.

it's good enough for me. i'll most likely using it to check the weather more than anything else.

but i have a suggestion, which i'm sure i already know the answer. but is it possible to incorporate at least the weather somewhere on the pages you view? like every page you open up (any link you click) and have it show the current temperature somewhere on the top? and i'm sure the answer is no. but just wondering.

All the better, IMO

Sure, the feature would be great to integrate into the overall site though.

Importcrew, I asked about this at vBulletin.org a week or so ago, for a site that I was designing. The answer there was no. But then someone else popped up and said that he'd look into it and see if it could be coded. If/when I hear back from him, I'll let Joey know. I'm not holding my breath though.

I suspect the trouble is - you need a news service to provide you with the data in the right format - which I doubt any do.

I actually have this hack about 90% done. It is really a simple hack. I just have to find time to finish it. When I do I will let Joey know so he can see if he wants to use it or not.

Here is a screen shot of what I have so far:
