i dunno, id do engine stuff.....
i'm still smokin people and i haven't lowered my ride yet!
i will though, no doubt, i want tein coilovers too, no money yet tho....
Performance (FMIC, Pulleys, Downpipe)
Suspension (TEIN HA or Flex w/ EDFC)
I current have a 1997 TT 6speed supra. It's got several body mods (some good, some rice - neither done by me). The only one that really pisses me off is the wide body - the tires rub on the right sometimes when i lauch or take a 90 degree turn at 40ish.
I mostly drag race though so everyone says front mount (just to make the car look better and cool compression air (more hp) and maybe allow 1more psi of boost) and downpipe (30+hp) and pulleys (30hp) is the combination i should go with.
The other sane people that know me suggest a nice TEIN Flex or HA setup. 1) to help the wheel rub 2) to stop my tires from squeeling in 2nd and 3rd 3) to improve my launches 4) so i can take corners at 60 w/o a second thought
Any input?!
thanks

I'm biased...I'm all about suspension over power because I do road course/solo I stuff.
I think fyrarms would be best to answer this one for you, since he's a fellow Supra guy.
suspension is horsepower for the turns

If you're doing mostly drag, then go for the performance. Although in the long run, it's a match of the two that will do the most...

i say suspension.
I understand your just drag racing mostly but i think it would help out not only from your car squating when you launch but also help from going lets say 0-120 then 0 again, your car wont nose dive when braking hard if necassary.
get whatever makes you more happy.
Just so we're clear I'm not doing suspension to lower my ride.
1) it's low enough
2) I can't lower it anymore w/o the 19's rubbing
3) I'd do suspension to take turns and launch better - not for cosmetics. I'm more into functionality than looks

Will you eventually do both, or is this a one or the other type of choice?
If you'll eventually do both, do the suspension first. You're car will then handle like a dream when you do the engine stuff. If you do the engine stuff and the car isn't primed to handle it, things could get interesting.
Just my thoughts.
this might sound dumb man but if your mainly 1/4 miling it get a straight axle back there . that IRS isnt made for the launches due to the way it squats and rubs the tires. you also might have a loose cv assembly back there with the way it rubs if youve got the right size tire and wheel combo on the car. and i agree with the chooch who said fyrarms would know more with the mkIV supras. also you can talk to a guy by the name of white supra on chitownracing hes got a pretty quick one or so ive heard............
Yes - this is just what to do first. I should have the cash to do either or in the next month or so.
I've decided to do suspension because I have enough tickets as it is and I think I'll get more beneifits and enjoyment out of the suspension - in the long run.
Thanks,
- Matt
I'd do suspension first.

1) Suspension upgrades will not help your tire rubbing issue. I viewed your photos. Someone ordered you the wrong offset wheels for your car. You need to either order correct offsets or trim your fender lips.
2) Stock MKIV Supras handle with the best cars in the world. Bone stock models back in 1993 pulled .98g averages. You don't need upgraded suspension until you make some horsepower.
3) Go for the power mods. Basic BPU mods will increase your power incredibly. You will shit when you see what full exhaust and increased boost does to a stock Supra. Nothing like it...

yeah, i know the supras supension is great - but upgraded TEIN will help my launches and i can even raise the car up to an 1.5" I think - and that will definately help the tire rub. I currently have a MBC and soon I plan on getting a downpipe - then I will be BPU. I know it's sick the amount of power I can pull from it but it's also sick being able to take corners at 50mph.
Thanks to everyone for all the input!

The suspension will help, but you have to set it up for certain handling. If you want to corner better, stiff. If you better launches, firm. You can't have both at the same time. If your drag racing you want the car to squat a little so as to balance the weight of the car more over the drive tires(rear). If it was a front driver you would want stiffer in the rear to keep the front planted Etc. I'd go for power mods personally, Like fyrarms said, Supras already have great susp. you should go for power first!
