Your camera without the lens is F/1.0 so that's as wide open you can get with your aperture.

| ah, the famous 50mm...
That lens was actually constructed for comercial use, as to the prosumer. Or, thats the story with the nikon 50 1.2
the 50mm is a good lens, but i rarely use mine now.(1.8)
i am HIGHLY considering the nikon 18-55 2.8
I rented that lens last last weekend for a gig. That lens is a tank. big, and heavy. but after this past weekend jobs with my lens, compaired to the 18-55 2.8 i rented last weekend.. the quality of my photos just look cheap now |

| I do, but mine's the cheapest 50mm you can get with 1.8F. Still takes the best pictures, though. Love prime lenses!

| Update:
So we have a company picnic in August and the HR lady asked if I would take the pictures.
"Sure, for a nominal fee." was my reply.
"Ok, get whatever you need."
So my company bought me:
Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens
2 GB compact flash card
a set of filters
a batter grip
lol... I could've probably gotten even more shit had I wanted to as well... but i didn't want to be greedy.
I'm loving this lense.... i'll post pics when I get some decent shots. |

| You know what, you really have to be carefull with aperatures open that wide.
the wider the aperture, the smaller the focal plain you have to work with.
its great for artistic photos though. |
