SV650

I'm planning on picking one up shortly.
Any respect for them? And also ne one on here ride one or have ridden a friends or something?

Ive read a ton of reviews, and talked to a few owners. They all love the bike. But i want to see what the comunity thinks of them.

O and don't say, get a SV1000, i don't have the $$, nor want one.

I plan to make it look similar to this. The dark urban naked look.

If you like the bike and there are no mechanical issues with them or whatever and they are decent bikes, then who cares what everyone else thinks. Get something that you like and more importantly thats comfortable to ride. If you like the bike and its comfortable then get it!

I actually was in the market for sn SV650 a few years back before I bought my Yamaha. I used to come by the local Suzuki shop once a week and talk to the owner and ask questions I had come up with. The only thing I heard about them was that a few model years had transmission issues related to weak gears. They may have fixed that, but it worth checking into. Other than the trans issue, the bike is rock solid. It's alluminum ladder frame is one of the strongest you can get and the 45* engine is very torquey and peppy. I actually rode one and it is very smooth and comfortable to ride. I liked it because I wasn't totally sold on the cruiser yet I don't like crotch rockets. Your feet on this one are actually directly below your knees, so it doesn't technically calssify as a Sport Bike. Your head is also higher up so you get better vision than a comparable sport bike. I'm sure you already know, but there is a large community out there for these bike owners and mods are readily available. If you don't want to go the naked route, there are some fairly cheap but very high quality fiberglass upper/lower fairing kits out there that change the whole look of the bike.

As far as your lisence, I think you can buy one but I'm not sure if they will let you pick it up - you may have to have it delivered. You should see if there are any MSF classes in your area and try to get in on a walk-on basis (easier to do than most are led to believe).

You do not have to have your liscense to buy a bike even from a dealer. I bought my 04 636 with no liscense or permit. But it was looking like it was going to rain so my buddy with way more experience rode it home.

Yea I dont even remember if they asked to be honest. But if they do, you can just go get your permit and come back. The permit test is easy as hell. I didnt even read the book and it took like 5 minutes.

Good bike. Enough power to have a lot of fun on and very forgiving.
