| Picture up date on the Impala. Well, as you guys know as I stated in the thread last month with pictures of the grille , a day or two later, I ordered a new front bumper cover and got quoted $275 on price for the prime, paint, clear, and install on that.. Well, the next day.. I was in a SMALL parking lot behind this local bar and i was backing out, and thought I cleared a pole.. didn't. Hit the corner of the bumper just right, folded the fender in.
Quoted for that? $2,850 or so.. Well, the previous day before that, I'd ordered a bumper cover as I said.. came to my porch two days later, delivered that to the body shop, paid $250 deductible, and $275 cash for the paint and shit on the front bumper. Had them all done at once.
Well, I got the car back, and saw it didn't have front trim.. realized it was because it was an aftermarket front bumper, ordered trim.. it came in, was light gray, ordered some from the GM dealer, and it came in.. well, i didn't have a chance to go get it, but a funny thing happened. The body shop calls me and tells me "We got a GM part here now we ordered, we're gonna match the price of the aftermarket trim at $83.14, down from the factory specified $114.xx, so I call the dealer to check , the guy says on the phone "Well.. we have it listed as in stock but i can't find it." so i'm guessing the body shop buoght the trim for me to get to satisfy me. They used the wrong rear bumper, but apparently that was a "Refurbished" part to save money. Whatever. Picked the car up august 24th, and have been kinda just layin back, not online a whole lot, working to get some money for things i want to do..but ya.. a few pictures from today. Naioa decals now installed, too
oh yea, here's a few from the impala meet the *day* after i got it back.
this one was HOT! cammed.. full forged internals.. racing trans with custom stall T.C... over $7K under the hood alone.
I know which rims I eventually want.

YES, I SAID JOSHIN'! | yea the kid's name slips my mind, but he's got a 9C1 Imp.
I love how the push bar / spotlight / SLP grille just darken the appearance that much more. He was driving behind me for a mile or two when we were cruising, I kept looking back and going 'WTF DID I DO' then i realized it was him, LOL he and the kid in the red car are out from by madison so they both met up and took 94 east and had walky talkys.. ppl would fly past colin ni the red one, and get to whatshisface in the black one, see him on the walky talky and slam on the freakin brakes.. i can see someone doing that too Quote:

Yesterday, (pepboys is doing the work, I haven't done much ignition related work and that's oneof the things i'm afraid to do.) called me and said the TPS sensor is bad and my fuel rails need to be cleaned out. Then he began recommending fuel system cleaner and top end clean and plugs/wires/new filter, and i told him "it's a K&N Filter in there, how would you know to replace it? I don't want anything else done." this is why i usually do my own work, but I figued they'd be able to diagnose a problem faster. |

| since its in their garage, you can have them replace the tps sensor so the car runs again but the cleanin stuff is not necessary. just replace the wires, plugs later when you get a chance.

'well you brought it in and it wasn't running, so we made it run'
'you made it run, but your guys' job is to make the car run properly and error free, is it not?'
'yea well uhhhh /stutters off..'
'i want to also bring up that i had my power steering pump replaced here within the last 3 months, 3 different times.. because they all were bad units, repaired or replaced under warranty.. i'm aware they have a squealing noise during the 'break in' period, but when you guys last replaced it, i've driven 5,000 miles since then.. and it's gotten worse. i've checked and added fluid as necessary. i want that checked out, too. please don't cut corners to save yourself money, because that's just not right.'
'yea wel uh..'
and i just lost it.
i said 'dude i took auto class for two years, i've been working on cars since i have been able to walk and talk, i know how things work, you can't sit here and shit me like you would a normal typical customer. you can't bullshit a bullshitter, so don't lie, give it to me straight. fix the problem and give me a call when they're fixed properly.'
he tried telling me that my PCM needs a re-flash.. BS. they got it runnnig but half assedly and i won't stand for it. is that wrong? |

| update..
The other night, I went to drive a coworker hmoe from work as her car had broken down.
Mine broke down, so I had it towed to pep boys. The car was dropped off the flat bed in the condition of NOT RUNNING. They got it running, by installing a new Throttle position sensor. After this, the car ran very rough when it was returned to me, like it wasn't smooth off the line.. I figured it was just a hiccup, that something needed to adjust. Well.. After sitting, cooling down for 4.5-5 hours at work, I started it to come home..Put it in reverse, gave it gas, teh car bogged down like someone covered the intake tube, then went again, popped these lights:
Check engine
ABS
Driver info center had "Service traction system soon" on the screen. so, I took it back to the garage at pep boys, and had them take a look. Next morning, I Get a call. They tell me my PCM Needs to be reflashed. Okay, well.. This morning, my stepdad took my car to the local Chevrolet dealer. They re-flashed the PCM with all of the latest codes, and then on the way home, my stepdad said it began acting up, and when he WOT on a straight road, all of these lights tripped on again. We were told by pepboys, it also could be a mass airflow sensor.. $140 later, minus 70 for core, there's a new mass airflow sensor installed, I did the work. Very careful with doing that. Went for a test drive, popped the check engine lamps soon as I turned the car on.Went wide-open throttle again, and it had the service trac system come on again.
What could seem to be the problem? In the past two weeks , I've dumped $700+ into this car in parts/labor/towing TWICE.. I need to get this straightened out, because this car wasn't like this before. Has anyone experienced this kind of problem before? Tomorrow I will post a video of what happens with the car when I start, and drive. the dealer that performend the PCM re-flash is going to go through and try to diagnose my problem on monday morning.
This is the parts / repair order from ray chevrolet from this morning.
"c/s that dash lights are on - was told that bcm needed to be reflashed
multiple codes in all systems
tech reprogrammed bcm and pcm - no codes returned at this time.
job # 1 total labor & parts: 103.98" |

| Why aren't you reading the trouble codes with a scanner?!?!?! That would be the best place to start rather than just saying, "I think it might be the MAF sensor" Check your plugs and wires, could be as simple as a loose plug.

| Can't autozone run a scanner on your car for free??? Go to an autozone and ask them, just ask for the trouble code and then google it.

its a bad wheel bearing speed sensor. |

that's what my stepdad was told.. possibly going to just go ahead and order the GM performance handling kit in the near future.
I had an idea, earlier.. mspaint'ed it up.. factory rims.. inner wheel painted black, leave plastic chrome plated "bolt" and emblem on the center cap alone, polish the lip on the wheels, clear coat it.
the black i'd want would be from a GMC or Chevy suburban.. onyx black gloss.. with the heavy duty clearcoat.

| me too.. i'm just curious what heat properties regular car paint can handle, i'd want to do GMC / Chevy suburban onyx black with a three layer clear coat to make it SHIIIIINNNYYYY.
Oh yeah, she's fixed.. New wheel bearing with ABS Sensor inside , and the code is off. Everything's good now. |
