LAS VEGAS (AP) - Police say O.J. Simpson will spend at least the next several days in a Las Vegas jail after arrives on a flight from Miami with his bail bondsman.
The former football star and celebrity defendant was taken into custody near his home on allegations that he violated terms of his release in a Las Vegas armed robbery case.
A Clark County District Court judge has scheduled a Wednesday hearing on District Attorney David Roger's request to revoke Simpson's bail and keep him jailed until trial in April.
Simpson and two co-defendants face kidnapping and armed robbery charges, alleging they burst into a Las Vegas hotel room and robbed two sports memorabilia dealers at gunpoint in September.
The D.A. alleges Simpson violated a court order by directing his bail bondsman to contact co-defendant Clarence "C.J." Stewart and express frustration about testimony given at a preliminary hearing in November.
That would violate a judge's order last September that defendants have no contact.
The judge even made his order memorable -- telling Simpson and the others that they weren't to have ANY contact -- even by carrier pigeon. |
