MMP hosts 4th of July charity event

Miller Motorsports Park is open for the Fourth of July long weekend for a charity event benefiting children’s charities. The fifth annual Racing 2 Save Lives (R2SL) event, July 3-6, provides motorcyclists with the chance to ride and develop their skills on the Tooele, Utah track, the site of a pair of World Superbike races in June.
“The track has become so popular – and understandably so, given the incredible facility – that dates can be hard to come by,” says R2SL executive director Stan Foxworthy. “For the track to step up to the plate and give us such a prime date, especially over the Fourth of July holiday, is just incredible!”
Carlos Checa set off his own fireworks last month, winning both World Superbike races at Miller Motorsports Park.

Participants can take part in on-track riding sessions, meet celebrity guest riders and take part in a silent auction. R2SL will also provide on-track instruction for both new and seasoned riders.
Last year’s event drew 372 participants despite inclement weather and raised $70,000 for charities in Utah and Colorado.
“Over the years we’ve refined our program, and 2008 promises to be the best yet,” says Ralph Forsythe, R2SL vice president. “Our participants, sponsors and volunteers have helped us donate significantly to children in need, and we’re looking forward to continuing that tradition. The culture of safety and ‘smart riding’ that we promote also ensures that participants will have fun while doing a great thing for the world around them.”
R2SL will hold three riding sessions each day, for three hours each. A road racing license is not required for participation.
