Smaller SUVs Crash Test Ratings Improve

Four small SUVs received top scores in crash tests according to the insurance industry, a sign of improvement from those built earlier in the decade. The 2009 Ford Escape, 2009 Volkswagen Tiguan, 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander, and the 2008 Nissan Rogue. They are all well equipped with standard electronic stability control - which guards against rollovers - and side air bags. It’s this safety equipment that helped the vehicles show improvements all across the board.
The insurance Institute has advocated that automakers make side air bags and electronic stability control standard equipment on all new cars and trucks. This is good news for consumers with regards to these types of vehicles, as families tend to ride together in them.
