| Soon to be in Algonquin Hey everyone, I am soon to be moving to the Algonquin area and the first thing on my list is to find some meets and get involved in the area.
I come from Rochester, MI and am a fairly active poster on our local Detroit forum ( www.xceedspeed.com). Sadly, I will be moving in without a car since I just sold mine and am looking for something new. If all goes well I'll be picking up a '97 Talon TSi that's over here and bringing it over. Past cars include:
1994 Probe GT
1989 Mercedes 190E
1988 Dodge Lancer Shelby
2004 Mini Cooper S
I just sold the Mini yesterday and we still have the Benz, but it has a blown engine. It very well may receive a carb'd 350 and evolve to fuel injection and boost. Right now I don't feel too motivated to doing something like that, but we'll see.
Also plan on getting my first bike real soon. |

| My sleeping domicile is close to Algonquin.
As far as I'm aware, there's nothing around the Algonquin/Lake in the Hills area as far as car clubs. Probably in Elgin, but that's a whole nother crop. Some suburban folks have meets in the northwest 'burbs and city, but I don't think they post here/post here much. |

Lots of new malls and parking lots popped out along Randall. Also a bunch of people got their cars running again. Just waiting for good weather. |

Just waiting for good weather. | There have been a lot of strip malls down Randall since I've been here for the past few years, and I wouldn't say there's anything great about what's being built now... same old.
Parking lots? Ahh, you must be young. |

Where else would people hang around with their cars? For some reason people are excited that Sonic opened off Randall.

| I saw the Sonic, but was exited because it was the first one I've seen since visiting FL. Don't know if it'd lend itself to a car meet...
And, looking at your profile, our ages are comparable (27-28), which surprises me. I was doing parking lot meets 8+ years ago with the "old school" crew on here...shit, even BEFORE parking lot meets. I don't think I'd hang out in a parking lot again, unless it led to a dining experience. |
