Need machine shop/engine rebuild recommendation please!

Hi,

I have a JDM 3SGTE 4 cylinder block that needs a rebuild. It's technically no different than the USDM 3SGTE.

Does anyone know a shop that's competent at rebuilding? I'd need an overbore to a specific piston size, and the rest of the usual rebuild stuff (deck plate, resurface, clean, etc).

In addition, I'll need them to fit a new crank and the rod ends need to be turned down to fit the rods.

I had this done a few years ago by a shop in Plainfield and I feel I was ripped off. I paid $1550 for labor (and parts like freeze plugs and bearings, pistons/rods I paid for separately).

I've heard the average for this kind of work is ~$1,100. I'm just going to buy a used longblock if I can't get it rebuilt for around this price.

Anyone know a shop that would be willing to work with me?

Thanks!

can NOT do the machining but I can handle the build.

Although I reccomend doing your best to keep it all in one place for control purposes. Also keep in mind that the machining you are talking about alone, could cost you almost $600-$900.
