Hey guys,
I'm here because I run a local web startup called
The Windy Citizen. If you've ever seen Digg.com or Reddit.com, it works a lot like that.
Basically, it's a site that lets people in Chicago submit and rate local links. The best-rated stuff floats to the front page.
I'm here because there's a crapload of Chicago auto news that doesn't make the papers, but I know you guys are up on it and it shows up on this forum eventually.
When it does, when you've got a good discussion, or find something interesting, I want to invite you guys to submit it on our site so that our users can check it out and vote it up if it's interesting.
The Windy Citizen is all about opening up the local conversation, democratizing it by letting our readers vote on what makes the front page. It's like an open source local newspaper. There's a lot of cool sites out there like this one that we want to send people to.
But to make it kick @&& we need sharp people helping us find and vote up the best local links.
Anyway, that's my story/pitch. We've got about 1500 people reading our front page every day now, and that number's going up. I'd love to get some local car news on there.
I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have about what we're up to or how it works. Our goal is to have the best of the local web on our front page at all times, using "crowd-power" to find that stuff.
Lemme know what you think. Would love to get Chicago Velocity folks on board.
