Lightbulb News from a "NEW" :D (Cash for Clunkers Law)

Hey there! Charlz here! glad to be part of this community!

Did some of you guys heard this stuff:

The House approved a "cash for clunkers" bill that aims to boost new auto sales by allowing consumers to turn in their gas-guzzling cars and trucks for vouchers worth up to $4,500 toward more fuel-efficient vehicles. President Barack Obama has encouraged Congress to approve consumer incentives for new car purchases as part of the government's work to restructure General Motors and Chrysler. The House approved the bill 298-119.

What's your point of view about this issue? hmmm....

Since it's only valid on cars built 1984 or later we can breathe a sigh of relief that this program is not going cause cool old cars to go to the crusher. Obviously no one would do that to their pride and joy anyway but someone's clunker could eventually become someone's meticulously restored show car. I think I read that this applies only to cars that were licensed and in use so no worries about the ones at the far corner of the junk yard that can be parts sources. So no worries there.

As for it in general, well I guess it will help sell some new cars and put people back to work. I know it's being done in other countries.
